The last war had left a scar in this tranquil, residential neighbourhood in Finsbury park. Six, original terraced houses were missing in an otherwise intact historic streetscape. The replacement dwellings would be built to the latest construction standards and a basement added to each house, but their appearance would blend in with the grown historic and established, local vernacular.  

 

This site provided an excellent opportunity for a growing demand in providing new buildings with a traditional facade designs and a mix of traditional and contemporary fit out of the internal spaces. Cast were taken off the historic, decorative window and door surround elements, and replicated with identical artificial stone products. Yellow reclaim bricks were sourced to match the existing stock, and red, bespoke feature bricks manufactured for the parapet design. Large skylights provide astonishing amounts of daylight to the basement area, making the below ground spaces feel very spacious and light. Exquisite, stunning bathroom designs, unique products for carpets and stone flooring compliment internally the reinstated, high qualities of the historic building fabric.
